I have always lived my life by summers. By this I mean that life only counted during the Summertime. Summer is my favorite season, and as a Leo, I am the embodiment of Summer herself. As someone who lives her life by summers, I know exactly how to make a Summer memorable. This past Summer, I tried a lot of new places and things, some of which I will recommend to you. Some of these recommendations I am yet to experience myself, but nonetheless I will share them. Although Summer is coming to a close, it is never too early to prepare for next Summer. Here are my best tips for having a memorable summer.
TIP #1: SOLO DATES ARE A MUST!!
Do not be afraid to go places alone or to try new things solo. Solo dates are meant to make you comfortable with your own company and to help you connect with yourself. Money is not a requirement for solo dates, just any activity or setting in which you can be alone with your own presence. The summertime is an especially good time to take yourself on solo dates, it is sooo important to treat yourself with care. There is nothing wrong with gifting yourself your favorite things. I’ve taken myself on a solo date to a new park I’ve never visited and journaled, which helped me feel grounded and connected to myself. The objective of solo dates is to get to know yourself better, understand the way your mind works, and to take care of yourself.
TIP #2: DO NOT BE AFRAID TO TRY NEW RESTAURANTS/FOODS
Trying a new restaurant or dish can be intimidating but if you enter with an open mind, you might discover your latest obsession. You never know what new flavors can be waiting to be unlocked until you try. However it is totally plausible that you do not like the food, and that is totally okay!!! At least you can say you tried it once. Here are some of my recommendations, some favorites of mine, and my ratings.
- Uncle Lou’s: 9/10 …my recommendation: general Tso’s chicken + ginger beef
- Buddha Bodai-Bodhi Kosher Vegetarian Restaurant: 7/10 … my recommendation: vegetable fried rice

TIP #3: RECONNECT WITH NATURE
KISS THE EARTH THAT BIRTH YOU. NEED I SAY MORE?

TIP #4: STIMULATE YOUR BRAIN, GET THINKING
Perceive this tip in any way you choose. What stimulates your brain? What makes you think, what makes you asks questions? Go exploring, keep thinking, keep being curious. Allow yourself to get lost in your curiosity. Summer is endless positive energy that makes room for curiosity to grow. So allow it. Follow your instincts and just think. Ask questions, get information, find answers. STIMULATE YOUR BRAIN… THINK!
TIP #5: BE SPONTANEOUS
It is always good to plan ahead, but sometimes the best memories happen in the moment. During the Summer, being spontaneous is one of the keys to always having a good time. Being spontaneous doesn’t mean partying and going out all the time (although it can!), but just doing anything that feels right in the moment.
TIP #6: DO NOT BE AFRAID TO STAY IN
There is a common misperception that if you are staying home, you are boring and are bound to not have a good time. In fact it is quite the opposite! Sometimes a night in is EXACTLY what you need. Sometimes, your own company is the only company you can bare, and that is OKAY. The Summer is very hot, and may require you to recharge, so don’t feel lame for deciding to stay inside. It might actually be the best thing for you.
TIP #7: FUCK EVERYBODY’S OPINION
This Summer I found myself posting more casually on my social media. For a long time, I cared excessively about what aesthetic I gave off and the way that my social media would be perceived. But that’s just it; perception is not fact. People perceive me through a lens created by their own experiences and thoughts. Everyone is going through their own shit, any energy they send towards you, it is a reflection on how they feel about themselves. It has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them. So post that picture, spam your story, and document your life. Or wear that outfit, take that risk, do what you know you’re going to enjoy. FUCK EVERYBODY’S OPINION. Anyone’s opinion of you is none of your concern and not worth your energy.
TIP #8: ALWAYS DRESS SEXY. DRESS CODE IS ALWAYS CUNTY
This one is pretty self explanatory: dress up like the best version of yourself. Always make sure that every outfit you wear makes you feel confident and the most like yourself. In other words, the dress code= cunty.
TIP #9: VISIT LOCAL PLACES YOU’VE NEVER BEEN
Sometimes the best things are closer than you think. As long as you’ve lived in your neighborhood, have you really explored it? Have you tried every restaurant, explored every park, visited every store? Improve exercise: the role is tourist visiting your town for the first time. What would be the first place you’d gravitate towards? Every Summer I find a new place near me to be obsessed with. Some places have been around forever, but new places do open. It doesn’t hurt to give it a try, and you can make a day out of trying new things and places. Who knows? You may find a new favorite ;))).
TIP #10: DO AT LEAST 5 THINGS YOU’VE NEVER DONE
Summer is the best time to try something that you’ve never done before. Even if you don’t end up enjoying it, you at least branched out to try something new. This can be trying a new hobby, trying a new style, trying a new activity, or trying out a new restaurant, it is just important that it is different than what you’re used to. Getting out of your comfort zone can be difficult, but growth is never comfortable! Change is the only constant, and summer is the best time to switch things up ;)).
TIP #11: (IF POSSIBLE) TRAVEL!!
If it is within your budget, traveling is a MUST during the Summer. It doesn’t have to be a plane ride away, taking a road trip or staying somewhere new nearby, is still traveling! Travel expands your perspective, allows you to experience new ideas and people.
TIP #12: START A NEW HOBBY (OR FOCUS ON ONE YOU ALREADY LOVE)
My favorite hobby is thrifting because it puts my mind at ease and being surrounded by objects with many stories comforts me. The objective is to find a hobby that quiets the noise in your head. One that makes you happy and fulfills you. The Summer is the perfect time to explore new hobbies, especially in your leisure time. Again, it’s a great time to start something new.
And those are all my tips for having a memorable Summer! I wish everyone an amazing school year, or rest of the year if you are not a student. Until next Summer…
